Focusing On The Year Ahead
Layla is back with a new post, writing about why it's important to focus on the year ahead, finding the motivation when you're feeling down and just how important it is to always work towards your goals.
You don't want to miss this...
Hey everyone, it's Layla!
I hope you're all having a wonderful start to the year - as you can see, here at Sprinkles of Style, we're busy writing new posts and we have lots of wonderful content coming your way - including some exciting features which will be featured on here soon!
There's so much hype surrounding Christmas and New Year and when it all ends, so does your motivation however this is the time when you need to focus on the year ahead, concentrating on your goals and things which you want to achieve.
Working Towards Your Goals
At the start of the year, there's no better time than now to set your goals.
Motivation is higher and by setting your goals at this time of year, it gives you something to look forward to (and work towards) despite the festivities coming to an end.
If you have a dream or goal which you're working towards, don't let anyone distract you or tell you otherwise - turn any negativity which comes your way into a positive, prove people wrong and stay focused.
No matter how small the steps may be for reaching your goal and ambitions - never give up.
Focus On Yourself
When people say "New Year, New Me" I cringe - slightly.
Why would anyone want to change the person they were last year?
We all grow as people and we're always learning so instead of looking at things negatively, look at things in a positive light - use everything you learned and experienced in the previous year to your advantage.
There's no harm in focusing on yourself this year - along with working towards your goals.
Make time for yourself whether it's a spa-break every other week or a short city-break when you feel the need to getaway.
Make More Time For Others
Over the festive period, people seem to come closer to their family, friends and loved ones - making more time for them in the run-up to Christmas and the New Year.
Take a step back and make this year, the year that you'll make time for others all-year-round.
Set a date every month to gather at a family or friends home and enjoy spending quality time with ones you love the most.
Life really is too short so make the most of every moment.
If you're not close to family or friends, think about supporting a charity in your spare time - you never know who might need your help.
It's time to make this year, your year!
Work hard and focus on the year ahead but at the same time, don't forget to make time for yourself too - any negativity coming your way? Learn to turn it into a positive.
Make time for your family, friends and loved ones too - it's not just Christmas and the New Year which should bring people together so plan a date every month to spend quality time with those who mean the most to you.
I'd love to know if you have any goals which you're working towards this year so make sure you let me know in the comments below!

Thank you xx
I’d love to get involved in a charity or do volunteer work or something like that. I’d also really like to start being more social in 2018 as well because I was a bit of a hermit in 2017.

Thank you so much for your kind comment – it’s so nice to see more people looking to get involved with charity or volunteer work and helping one another or those who are less fortunate! xx
I love your goals and how you focus on the year ahead of you!

Great wisdom, Layla! I definitely agree that we grow and change and don’t want to completely re-do ourselves!

Ah thank you so much for your kind words! 🙂 xx
I am currently focusing on getting a new job, since blogging doesn’t pay the bills yet! :)) That’s my priority at the moment. Other than that, at this time in the year I really try my hardest to pick up better eating habits, and cut back on unneccesary things in my life. Have an amazing year Layla!

Thank you so much for your kind comment! Set your mind to your goals and focus! You’ll do fine!! 🙂 xx
I totally agree. Whenever I hear “New Year, New Me” I cringe too.
I liked what you said about staying focused. This year my main goal is to really focus on one thing. Those who have seen great success have attested to the power of honing in on something–mastery vs. dabbling.
P.S. Your dog is adorable!
Hahaha – aww thank you, he’s such a cutie! I do cringe at that but if it makes people happy that’s what matters. I love seeing people setting goals for the year ahead as it’s so motivating!! Thank you for your comment xxx
