As you might have seen on my social media, I recently visited Austria and stayed at the hotel: Motel One which is located in Salzburg.

Following my overnight stay, you can see all the details below and you know what? I think you might be surprised...!

For me, Austria is such a beautiful place - known for it's snow-covered mountains, clean roads and lush hills which are dotted with lovely picturesque homes, it really reminds me of those tourist postcards which look oh-so-pretty!

Hotel: Motel One Salzburg-Mirabell - Location

On my second trip to Austria, I finally booked my overnight stay, selecting Hotel: Motel One Salzburg-Mirabell.

Sitting right on the Salzach River, it's a 10-minute walk from Mirabell Palace and 15-minute walk from Salzburg's old town so it's in a great location if you want to walk and explore.

I arrived at the hotel late in the evening. The weather was terrible, it was raining and cold but despite all that - the scenery was still beautiful.

As mentioned above, the hotel sits right on the Salzach River making the atmosphere really calm and peaceful which is just what you need after a long day of travelling.

I checked in however my mood was dampened (not from the rain) but from the lack of customer service as the staff at the hotel weren't polite at all. 🙁

I really hope that this post will be seen by the hotel staff at the hotel as I wouldn't want a customer to feel the way I felt when I was greeted at reception.

Hotel: Motel One Salzburg, Austria - Parking

After checking in, I was told to go to a separate building next door where there was parking available for guests of the hotel.

Being new to the area and the fact it was dark outside - I didn't like the parking building as it looked slightly run down and was very secluded.

There was a key-code card to swipe for entering the parking however once inside - there was no one around. No staff member from the hotel and I just felt very uneasy. (Where's the Scared-face Emoji when you need it)

Quickly unloading my suitcases, I made my way up a couple of flights of stairs to come back out onto the street and walk around to the entrance of the hotel.

Comparing this parking to other hotels which I've stayed at - this was by far the worst.

Hotel: Motel One Salzburg, Austria - Rooms

OK, so onto a more positive note - the rooms!

This is where everything changed for my experience at the Hotel: Motel One Salzburg.

The hotel itself and the room I stayed in was lovely - very clean, very fresh and just what you need after a long day of travelling.

As soon as you walk into your room, you're greeted by the sound of calming / soothing music which is normally what you hear when you're having a massage or treatment at a high-end beauty salon.

The TV is also switched on, displaying a fish tank with what I think was tropical fish swimming about, all adding to the relaxing-vibe which the hotel aims to achieve.

Hotel: Motel One Salzburg, Austria - Bathroom

This is another major factor for me when it comes to the hotels I'm staying in and Motel One didn't disappoint here either.

The bathroom was clean, bright and fresh - beautiful! Even though there wasn't a bath - the shower was perfect!

Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer Murumuru Butter – Sunkissed

Just enough pressure to act like a massage and hot enough to create a sauna - hahaha! 🙂

As you'll see in the photos below, the hotel didn't have sample-sizes when it came to their bath products, it offered full-sized pampering products from "Certified Organic Cosmetics" - made in Germany with locally sourced ingredients.

I have to say - the products smelt incredible and left skin feeling soft smooth and pampered.

Handwash - 100% Organic Lindenflower

Hair & Body Wash - 100% Organic Mint

The products can be bought at the hotel reception.

So, to sum up - if you don't have a car and don't mind too much about the Customer Service which you receive then the hotel: Motel One in Salzburg is an option to consider as the rooms are clean, the scenery is beautiful and you're not too far from the old town.

However, if you're like me and appreciate good customer service (a smile doesn't hurt) and you want to feel comfortable when talking to the staff or asking for help then I would suggest looking at another hotel as sadly - Motel One Salzburg-Mirabell didn't provide that to me.

I hope that this post will be seen by the hotel staff at the hotel as I wouldn't want a customer to feel the way I felt when I was greeted at reception.

All they need to do is pay more attention to their guests who are paying money to stay there - be more polite, be kind and be helpful.
