OK, it's time to take advantage of all the lovely fruit which is available during the warmer, summer months and in this article - you can see why Breakfast Smoothie Bowls (or smoothie bowls in general) are just that good for you..... 🙂
Breakfast Smoothie Bowls
I normally don't write about my diet on here but I know that a lot of you lovely readers are always on the lookout for different tips and advice on healthy eating and generally finding a balance.
Over the past year, I've changed everything in my diet and even though I won't be going into detail in this post, what I can say is that I've never felt better!
Are Breakfast Smoothie Bowls Good For You?
OK, you've seen them ALL over Instagram but are breakfast smoothie bowls any good for your diet? The answer is yes!
I love being able to have a different smoothie bowl every morning - using up different types of fruit and ingredients all to benefit your system.
(Use Spinach or Kale for Vitamins and Fibre)
With the summer months on the way - Smoothie Bowls are a great way to have something cooling and refreshing plus - by adding frozen bananas to your smoothie bowl, you'll create an 'Ice Cream' like texture so it's like having dessert for breakfast....depending on your choice of toppings. 🙂
In the winter months, I don't use frozen fruit - I use fresh fruit for my smoothies bowls topped with homemade granola.
Get creative and stock up on - coconut flakes, grated coconut, chopped almonds, pecans, walnuts, cashew nuts, goji berries, dark chocolate, hemp seeds, flax seeds, sesame seeds and chia seeds for toppings!
So, What Are The Benefits?
OK, so we know that Breakfast Smoothie Bowls are good for you but what are the benefits?
You Use Different Ingredients
The ingredients which you use for your Smoothie Bowl are ingredients which people normally don't eat enough of during the day and this is a great way to add more nutrients and vitamins to your diet.
Frozen fruit, fresh fruit, nuts, oats and seeds are great! They're a wonderful source of vitamins, antioxidants and fibres....
Personally, I don't add any extra sugar to my smoothie bowls.
When using fresh fruit, I might add a touch of Coconut Water to the mix and when using Frozen fruit, I add bottled water just to help the consistency.
Add Cinnamon, Dates or Vanilla Extract for a lovely sweeter touch and toast coconut flakes or almonds for a different taste....
Feel Fuller & Energised
Yep - you might be surprised to read that Smoothie Bowl can keep you feeling fuller for longer as it's just a smoothie... right?
Wrong - in fact, due to the wonderful ingredients, fibres and seeds / toppings, this will make you feel fuller and a lot more energised - see, healthy food can be delicious!
Try different ingredients and switch things up - one day add kale or spinach to your smoothie bowl along with an apple, orange, a few raspberries and pear topped with homemade cinnamon granola and coconut flakes.
Another day, opt for something more 'indulgent' by mixing a frozen banana, pear, fresh coconut, and frozen pineapple topped with grated coconut, chopped almonds and dark chocolate!
So, there we have the benefits of Breakfast Smoothie Bowls!
I absolutely love them and love the fact that you can switch things up by using different ingredients and changing your choice of toppings to suit the Smoothie Bowl and what you want to eat for the day.
I'd love to know what you all think of this and if there's a Smoothie Bowl recipe that you love - share it below as we'd all love to see and try it! 🙂
