Planning My Dream American Holiday
Planning My Dream American Holiday

Travel is one of the most valuable things you can do in your life - you get to explore many places around the world, see different cultures, meet new people and ultimately - you create memories and experience things you wouldn't have done otherwise.
In this post, thanks to VisitTheUSA, I get to plan my dream American Holiday and YOU can win holiday vouchers for your holiday too! 🙂
Planning My Dream American Holiday
New York
Of course, New York is the number 1 on my list of places to visit in America. It has been for many, many years and if I was to choose only one place to visit - it would be the 'Big Apple'.
It's so cool, it's even got it's name on mailing twice - New York, NY.
BUT in this post, I get to choose more than one place thanks to VisitUSA who have asked me to share my dream American Holiday.
Instead of choosing the typical 'hot-spots' I've chosen a couple of places which are a little bit different...
Planning My Dream American Holiday
Known for it's snow-topped mountains, foothills, lakes, land and overall beautiful scenery - including sunrises and sunsets.
Colorado isn't considered to be a typical tourist hot-spot but that's what makes it stand out.
It's a beautiful part of America and it's somewhere that has it's own unique charm about it.
Overall, Colorado is quite a dry place but the mountainous regions get a lot of moisture from the winter snowfalls - in the Spring, due to the warm weather conditions, the snow melts causing great flows of water in Yampa River, the Colorado River and the Arkansas River too.
There's something for everyone to enjoy - whether you're more of an adventurer, exploring the land and visiting the lakes or whether you're more of a city person who enjoy shopping and admiring the skyline of downtown Denver.
Personally, I'd visit Colorado to see the scenery - I mean, just take a look at the picture here on the left.
It's absolutely beautiful and for me, there's nothing better than visiting a place like this with family and friends, relaxing and having a lovely time.
Planning My Dream American Holiday
Now, this is more of a tourist location but really - who can resist the blue skies, the sunshine, the flower garlands (Lei), the palm trees and the variety of beautiful fruit?
Of course - I'm talking about Hawaii which takes up the next place of my dream American Holiday.
Why have I chosen Hawaii?
It's somewhere which is normally considered as a romantic place to visit but for me, it's been in the back of my mind that at some point, I'd like to visit for a relaxing holiday and to experience the different culture, lifestyle and fruits.
Again, just like Colorado, I think Hawaii has a charm of it's own - it's somewhere unique and even though it's America, it has a different vibe which I find really interesting.
For those who may not know, Hawaii is made up of islands and here, you can see the main islands, their names and their nicknames too!
Hawai'i - The Big Island
Maui - The Valley Isle
O'ahu - The Gathering Place
Kaua'i - The Garden Isle
Moloka'i - The Friendly Isle
Lana'i - The Pineapple Isle

I would love to go across to do the Grand Canyon helicopter ride as I have seen and read some amazing reviews. Once I would have done that I would love to return by helicopter to Las Vegas, complete with a swoop over the resorts and casinos on the Strip! That would definitely be an amazing experience!! I hope it happens – One day soon xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Oooh – That sounds like a lovely holiday! I like that – especially Vegas! Haha! 🙂
I went to USA back in 2004 and it was through work and mainly for policing purposes. I went to a small place called LOWELL not far from Boston.
Really quaint and the people very friendly and warm. Not much to do there but we had a strict timetable where we were training from 8 in the morning until about 8 in the evening.
Food was lovely and the portions were huge!
Lovely memories and lovely people worth visiting … xxx
Oh wow – it’s so nice to see the different reasons why people go to places and what they have enjoyed so thank you for sharing! Hahaha – the food, yes huge portions! 🙂 x
Awesome contest! If you have not been to the US before I highly recommend NY. Denver is cool and of course Hawaii is an amazing vacation spot but you will learn more about America from your time in NYC! Good luck!
Oh wow – thank you for recommending NY! It’s definitely on the list. It’s good to know that each place has it’s own charm and that’s what I love but being able to learn more about the US through NYC is something I didn’t know! 🙂
This sounds amazing Layla!!
