Natural Decor Means Giving Wood A Chance
Natural Decor Means Giving Wood A Chance
The Sprinkles of Style team is back with a new post. All about adding a cosy touch to your home - in the easiest way possible.
Where does style and warmth really come from and what does it mean for our homes?
It's no secret that we all want our living spaces to be moulded and shaped to our desires and hopefully - reflect our personalities in the best way possible.
In the end, we're not all designers and experts of what's fashionable and for the most part, we choose what we think will look good in our home.
Home itself has a character which is directly impacted by the location, the garden, the room numbers and sizes as well the surrounding towns or neighbourhoods.
The modern world has developed a range of new, chic materials which a few decades ago were considered out of fashion and with the vast growth of interior designers, more and more interior pieces have been designed around the world - all using different materials such as glass, metal, plastic and yes - even carbon fibre!
Travel around the world and you'll see that each country has it's own unique style and creations which is one of the beautiful things when it comes to creativity.
However, if you're like Layla and love making your home feel cosy and warm then wood is what you should be looking at as this will instantly transform any home.
Wood In The Lounge
The lounge is one of the most loved rooms in the home as this is where people gather with their family and friends to have a chat over a cup of coffee and cake and of course - this is where most of us relax after a long day.
One of the easiest ways to transform the room and add a cosy touch is by adding a wooden coffee table to the room - preferably at knee-height which is perfect whether you're standing or sat on the sofa.
Dining and Socialising
The classic nature of a family unit is to dine together - the dining room is another place in the house where families and friends tend to come together to socialise but it's not used as much as the living room.
The decor in the dining area can sometimes be overlooked (not by Layla - she has fresh flowers in the centre of her dining room table every week) however if you change your approach to the dining room and create a lovely room with an inviting atmosphere - you'll use the space so much more.
Find a dining table and chairs which will suit your style and your home - wood can be found in both dark and light tones, all of which will add a cosy touch to your home.
Metal and plastics are all too commonplace nowadays in modern homes and they don't have as much character as wooden furniture.
If you're opting for natural decor in your home, wood is a wonderful choice and if you look around for unique pieces - you'll come across designs which have such an appreciation for handcraftsmanship too.
There's no reason why wood should be considered as old-fashioned or unfashionable, it's one of the most versatile materials and now comes in so many different tones to suit every home.
We all love reading your comments so let us know what you think!
