How To: Create a Smokey Eye with Cream Eyeshadow
How To: Create a Smokey Eye with Cream Eyeshadow
Hello everyone!
I hope you’re all well and having a wonderful week so far, most of you now know that I have started filming youtube makeup tutorials which kind of makes me a ‘beauty youtuber‘ hahaha – I’m having so much fun but it’s still all new to me so it’s taking about 2 hours to edit the videos, pick some music and list all the products I’m using but it’s all FUN!
Here is my second video – I know it’s another smokey eye but this is much more dramatic than my easy smokey eye makeup and I’m using cream shadow to create the look.
I know a lot of you run away (very fast) from cream shadows as you’re scared of it creasing and becoming horrible but if you apply a powder base like I’ve used in the video it will last you ALL evening! 🙂
Hope you enjoy 🙂
As you can see it’s a lovely look which will compliment everyone – yes including you with smaller eyes 🙂 …..I always keep the inner/middle of the eye brighter and focus on creating a ‘smokey‘ look on the outer corners as this creates the illusion of bigger eyes.
I have full reviews of the Max Factor Excess Shimmer Eyeshadows and I’m hoping to have it online in a couple of days but below are all the details of the products used in the video above!

Such a nice tutorial. I love the tip to apply powder before the cream shadows. I usually apply my Urban Decay Primer potion. I really wanna get my hands on these new Max Factor cream shadows. The bronze one looks gorgeous!! x

Awww thank you so much!!! Yes – it’s a good way to get the ‘cream’ to stick onto something and I find that powder not only makes it last longer but also makes the colour show up a lot better! 🙂 xxx

I used to use cream eyeshadows so much when I was in high school, and urgh, those dreaded creases! I swore off them ages ago but now that you’ve mentioned the powder base… Hmmm I might just go back there again
Sxx
Yes – give it a go and you’ll see how much better it lasts during the day! 🙂 xxx

This is such a fantastic look on you, although WOW do I wish that I had read this before creating my Halloween cat look as my makeup could have been so much more interesting! The colours used to create this look could work for any colour skin tone or eye colour by the look of them, I’m feeling pretty inspired to experiment more with my eye makeup – thanks Layla 🙂 Happy Halloween!!
p.s. I’m so looking forward to the ‘yummy sweets’ you mentioned you’d be tagging me in.. you know me well, anything sweet-food related and I’m there haha! 😉

Thank you! 🙂 xxx
This looks so beautiful Layla! I’ve recently discovered Maybelline Colour Tattoos (very late to the party, I know!) and I’m obsessed with them, so I love the idea of using cream shadows to create something a little more interesting, as well as just using one across the lid. I shall be experimenting! x
