Friends Reunion: It’s Happening – All We Know!

As a lot of you know, I’m a HUGE Friends fan so you can imagine my excitement when I found out that a reunion is on the way.

However, after reading a number of articles – I was left feeling quite disappointed and can’t help but think that this is more hype than anything else, here’s why…

Friends Reunion – Where Can I Watch It?

The special episode is set to debut on the new streaming platform called HBO Max, launching in May – the same time as the one-off special.

For those of us who are in the UK, we don’t get HBO and HBO Max (the streaming platform) is only launching in the U.S (for now) so the next likely option will be that the episode will be shown on Sky Atlantic.

Sky Atlantic is the UK’s answer as many shows which are broadcast on HBO are then shown on Sky Atlantic for UK viewers and this includes hit shows such as Game of Thrones….

Friends Reunion – What Should We Expect From The “Unscripted” Episode?

At the moment, the details are vague but what we do know so far is that the show will see the cast returning to the soundstage where Friends was originally filmed.

Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt Le Blanc, David Schwimmer and Matthew Perry will be looking back – reflecting on the show, going through the best moments and discussing it’s global impact.

Whilst certain aspects haven’t been confirmed, it’s expected that Ellen DeGeneres will be hosting the show, with Ben Winston directing. (Ben Winston works alongside James Corden for The Late, Late Show).

If this is anything to go by, we should expect this special one-off episode to be similar in style to the Friends cast joining Conan O’Brien where they discussed deleted scenes, working on the show and featured bloopers from filming.

At the moment, Friends is currently airing on Comedy Central in the UK along with being shown daily on Channel 5.

It’s safe to say that Friends is one of the ultimate sitcoms and since being streamed on Netflix, the show has gained a new generation of fans – including my nephew!
