Finding the best skincare routine for you can take it’s time, there’s a lot of trialling with products and seeing what will benefit you (in the long run) and as frustrating as it can be, you’re definitely not alone!
Trust me, I’ve tested so many different brands and products to bring you a variety of detailed reviews and I hope with this post, you’ll be able to gain some savvy skincare secrets to help enhance your complexion and give you glowing skin..!
Learn to exfoliate
Exfoliating is a wonderful way to boost and enhance your skin complexion.
I always look for products which will be delicate on the skin and take note of looking for ingredients which nourish, soften and hydrate. You don’t want to have any type of exfoliator which will be harsh or aggressive in any way.
In my last skincare post, I wrote about an exfoliator which transforms from a cream to a lotion when water is added. Products like this work wonders.
Sensitive Skin – Look for exfoliators which contain ‘beads’ that burst or dissolve when water is added. This is a great way to exfoliate, if you have sensitive skin, and look for ingredients such as Almond Oil, Jojoba Oil and Rose which all help to nourish and balance your skin.
Oily Skin – Again, look for ingredients which won’t be harsh on the skin. The best ingredient I would recommend looking for within an exfoliator is Jojoba Oil as this is the oil which balances your skin, helping to prevent oily-ness and breakouts.
Normal Skin – As seen in my previous post, I would recommend a cream-to-lotion type exfoliator which can be used daily. If you look at ingredients which help to benefit you’re skin – you’ll notice a big difference in your skin.
Increase Collagen Production
As you get older, the amount of collagen your body produces will decrease. This means your skin will lose some of its elasticity, which can lead to sagging and other signs of ageing.
Whilst it’s common, a facelift can enhance your appearance and you can prevent the signs of ageing however this isn’t something which I would recommend until you feel like you have no other option – a last resort shall we say.
Instead, you can take a look at treatments using products with added collagen, massages for the face which help to improve the appearance of your skin, increase collagen and stimulate the skin helping to keep it looking and feeling firm.
Everyone has skin issues
One thing we all need to remember is that no matter how lovely someone’s skin may look, there will undoubtedly be a problem that they’re dealing with, in regards to their skin.
No one has perfect skin and in today’s online reality, we have the burden of social media which features airbrushed / facetuned people and in reality, no one is perfect.
Whilst there’s many options out there to improve your skin, don’t forget that pictures can be edited (more likely they are) and no one is perfect.
Over time, you’ll learn and find products that will make your skin look and feel wonderful.
You don’t need a complicated skincare routine (Kinda…)
Your skincare regime doesn’t have to be complicated in order to be effective. In fact, one of the most important factors when it comes to skincare is consistency.
A simple, daily routine will be more effective than a complex regime you only follow once a week.
By spending a few minutes nourishing your skin every day, you can remove bacteria, unblock your pores and keep your skin looking healthy and glowing.
Of course, you can opt for a long / complex skincare routine but make sure you do stick to it and keep up with the routine consistently.
Be Careful with Harsh Products
When your skin is breaking out, you might be tempted to throw as many products at it as you can get your hands on however, as we always mention – this won’t help with the issue.
Instead, relax and opt for your top product. Breakout? I tend to use a blemish control lotion from Murad skincare. Simply dot onto the affected areas and leave overnight. You don’t need to irritate your skin – you want to soothe and calm your skin.
Give products a chance to work before trying something new and allow your skin to adjust when you add a new product into your routine.
