Melado Organic Hair Growth Oil Treatment – Old Wives Tail *
About a month or so ago I was kindly sent a haircare product from a new brand called Old Wives Tail, it’s a new brand specialising in handmade, organic products and of course I was intrigued….so let’s get on with the review 🙂
About Old Wives Tail
Old Wives Tail – not the most simple of names but at the same time it’s unique and quite cute so it’s something that you’ll remember.
The brand specialises in organic, handmade, cruelty free products which are suitable for vegetarian/vegans.
Melado Organic Hair Growth Oil Treatment – Old Wives Tail – Packaging
The first picture shows how this was in the parcel when delivered, it’s a really pretty old-style tissue which someone might find different but I quite like it as the design and colours are really pretty.
The actual packaging itself is extremely simple but it’s nice to see the oil….I quite like seeing the products.
Melado Organic Hair Growth Oil Treatment – Old Wives Tail – Application
The application of this is one of the downsides, I think it would have been a lot better if this came with a pump applicator as it would be a lot easier to apply to the hair and a lot more hygienic.
I don’t really mind using the product as is, I just apply a few drops of oil to my hands and apply it to my hair but I know many people would have preferred a pump applicator or even a pipette applicator which would be a lot easier 🙂
Melado Organic Hair Growth Oil Treatment – Old Wives Tail – Texture
As you know from the name and the pictures it’s an oil product…it looks like an oil and feels like an oil – some oils feel quite silky but this feels like a normal oil.
I’ve used this different ways to see if I’ll get better results so below I’ve listed the ways.
– A few Hours Before Shower: I apply a few drops to the ends of my hair which is more prone to becoming dry all the way to the mid-length of my hair, I avoid roots when it’s for a short amount of time.
– Overnight: I apply a lot more on the ends of my hair when it’s overnight to really let it sink into hair working my way to the mid-lengths….any leftover oil on my hands I then run over the roots and put it into a bun.
– One Day: This is when I know my hair will be up and in a sleek bun, always focusing on the ends of the hair and working a little bit into the roots, this actually helps bun look sleek and smooth – a touch of hairspray will disguise any oil.
In all the ways I’ve used the product the results are very similar but my favourite way is overnight or before a shower.
Melado Organic Hair Growth Oil Treatment – Old Wives Tail – Results
OK, so I’m not sure if this has helped speed-up the process of my hair growing or getting longer….my hair grows quite quickly anyway.
BUT my hair DOES feel a lot softer and looks healthier and shinier in the sun….I’m actually impressed with how lovely and nourished my hair feels, it’s actually become a lot softer too which can be a bit of a problem when styling but it’s a really nice feeling.
Melado Organic Hair Growth Oil Treatment – Old Wives Tail – Scent
The scent of this is quite a strong, lavender like scent – I personally LOVE the smell of it as it’s relaxing and revitalising at the same time.
It’s strong but I don’t think it’s overpowering at all! 🙂
Melado Organic Hair Growth Oil Treatment – Old Wives Tail – Overall
Overall I do recommend this hair product as a leave-in deep treatment, if you suffer with dry, frizz prone hair then you’ll definitely benefit.
Hair feels a lot softer, nourished and looks a lot healthier after about 2 uses so it’s quite quick to see results! 🙂
