The Benefits of Cleaning Your Makeup Brushes
The Sprinkles of Style team is back with a brand new beauty post and this time, we're showing you the benefits of cleaning your makeup brushes and why you need to clean them - at least once a week.
Everyone has a beauty routine and it's unique to each person depending on their skin type and the products they're using (you should see Layla's new beauty routine - she'll be writing about this very soon).
Cleaning your makeup brushes is an easy chore to forget however it's such an important part of any beauty-lovers routine and something which should be done - at least once a week.
Over time, without cleaning, your makeup brushes collect oils, bacteria and dead skin cells and with each use - you end up spreading bacteria onto your skin which in turn blocks your pores, increasing the chance of acne.
By cleaning your brushes regularly - you'll drastically reduce the chance of acne and breakouts.
Applies Colour Better
You should think about your makeup brushes like a paintbrush, you wouldn't use a dirty paintbrush on your walls - why?
Because the colour wouldn't apply well to the walls and the same theory goes for your makeup brushes.
Clean makeup brushes will allow you to achieve a beautiful, professional looking, makeup look.
The more product that you apply (and leave) on your makeup brushes - the rougher they will become meaning your brushes could drag on your skin, causing irritation and perhaps damage.
Again, along with all the oils and bacteria - this could play a part in resulting in acne.
This alone is a reason to clean your makeup brushes regularly.
They Last Longer
Nowadays, a large amount is spent on decent makeup brushes and after all, there's so many options and brands to choose from - especially if you're a beauty-lover!
However, if you let your makeup brushes get dirty and you don't look after them correctly, they're not going to last as long as you hope they will. You really need to take care of your makeup brushes - especially if they're high-end, to help them last longer.

How To Clean Your Makeup Brushes
There are so many different ways to clean your make-up brushes and nowadays, there's also so many different tools that will make things easier.
If you have one, you can clean your makeup brushes with a Stylepro which is one of the easiest methods.
If not, you can also use dish soap or a hair shampoo for cleansing and to remove any buildup - you could also use a conditioner after cleaning to soften the bristles but just make sure to rinse the brushes to remove any excess shampoo or conditioner.
At minimum, your brushes should be cleaned once a week.
So, as you can see - it really is important to clean your makeup brushes as often as possible not only for hygiene reasons but to benefit your skin too and to ensure your makeup will be applied in the best way possible.
We'd love to know what you use to clean your makeup brushes and how often you clean them - are you a clean-freak like Layla or do you you leave your makeup brushes longer than recommended?
