Tomato Sugar Scrub
Tomatoe Sugar Scrub
Being a beauty blogger I love trying different things and making my own body/face scrubs especially when I can use ingredients from my kitchen and I can easily spend a few hours just browsing a variety of blogs and websites.
I came across this Tomato Sugar Scrub and wanted to share it with you lovely readers as many of you may not have come across it – until now!
Benefits of Tomato for skin
Not only do tomatoes taste great in salad but they’re extremely beneficial for your skin and can be used in a number of ways but this scrub is great for your body.
The natural acidity in tomatoes is wonderful to heal and clear up acne, packed with Vitamin A and C – this is what you would normally find in acne skincare products.
This leads on to tomatoes being a natural astringent so if you suffer with oily/combination skin then using the juice from the tomato will help to balance your skins oil levels.
Not only are tomatoes packed with vitamins but they’re also known for their toning, firming and smoothing properties!
How to make the Tomato Sugar Scrub
Ok, so now we get onto the fun part – I normally make a big amount as I use it on my face, neck, arms, legs and it lasts about a week.
What you’ll need
– 1 beef tomato or 3-4 plum tomatoes
– Half a small cup Caster Sugar
– 2-3 teaspoons Olive or Almond Oil
– Honey (optional – this can be used on face with the scrub)
Cut the tomato(s) into very small and fine pieces, to the point you can’t cut them anymore and place into a bowl to one side.
Add the sugar to your tomatoes and gently mix – if you can feel liquid add more sugar.
Once it starts to feel “exfoliating” then you can add your oil to the mix.
That’s it – you’re all done, place the mixture into a plastic container and keep it in the fridge – it’ll last for about a week.
If you want, you can keep a small amount of the mixture in a separate plastic container – add a teaspoon of honey and use this on your face and neck. This will heal, rejuvenate, nourish and give your skin a lovely healthy glow.
So, let me know what you think and if you’ll be trying this!

That sounds delightful Layla!!! There’s nothing like fresh beauty products. Plus tomatoes! I swear I learn something new everyday. I have dry skin, so maybe I should use avocados instead. Or bananas?
Thank you hun!! Yes it’s so lovely make your own products and you know everything you’re using is natural!! Tomatoes are excellent for the skin especially in the summer but if you have dry skin I don’t see why you can’t use avocados, bananas or even peaches to keep things fresh! Papaya is also wonderful and will help to balance all skin types!! 🙂 xxx
