Happy December!

It's the Sprinkles of Style team and we're back with a new post.

There is no better use of your time than travelling the world, seeing new sights, trying new foods, meeting new people, and learning about other cultures and their history.

However, if you’re a big fan of travel, then sometimes a weeklong holiday every few months simply isn’t enough.

Sometimes, you want to move to a completely new country, at least for a while, and learn all there is to understand about it.

This sounds absolutely amazing, a dream come true even - but it might not be.....if you’re not prepared, you might regret your decision to leave.

With that in mind, here are three things that no one tells you about moving abroad.

It Isn’t Easy

There are so many examples of characters moving abroad and travelling for a long time in tv shows and films, and it all looks so easy.

Most of the time, the character decides that they want to move in the spur of the moment, and are gone within the next half an hour.

Unfortunately, this couldn’t be further from the truth, and moving abroad or travelling for a significant amount of time is far from easy.

You have to remember when you move abroad, you aren’t going on a long holiday, you are going to live there, so there is a lot that needs to be planned, bought, and booked. Visas are especially important, as is finding somewhere to live, finding a job, setting up a bank account, and shipping your stuff overseas.

Once you’re there, you’re not just going to forget about your family, and get swept up the the glamour - of course you're going to miss your loved ones.

You Can’t Take Everything

When you move towns, across the country or go travelling for a long time - you are able to take everything you own, using a company like Shiply.

Of course, it would probably be cheaper and easier to have a clear out and get rid of the things that you don’t need, but you don’t have to if you don’t want to.

When you move abroad, although you can still ship your belongings abroad, it’s much more sensible to take as little as possible, especially if you intend to move about a lot.

Despite Shiply's reviews, taking all of your belongings halfway across the world is going to be near impossible!

Whether you’re moving for three months, three years, or thirty years, get rid of as much stuff as you can, and put everything you don’t need in storage until you return.

It Changes You

Whether it’s for better or for worse, no one can go and live in another country without anyone they know and not come back a different person.

It sounds incredibly cheesy, but you really can find yourself while living abroad/travelling - you learn to appreciate all the small things in life, and, because you won’t be able to see them very often, you will find spending time with your loved ones much more precious.

You’ll have to learn a new language, adapt to new laws and cultures, and become a more well-rounded and independent person.

Moving or travelling abroad for a long time isn’t easy however if you're prepared, focused and mentally ready, it can be the best thing that's ever happened to you.

They say that travelling and seeing the world is one of the best things for someone - you get to see different sights, meet different people and explore different cultures all of which will open your mind in a more positive way.

If you're looking to make a drastic change in your life, think about either travelling abroad for a significant amount of time or moving and trying something new as it could be one of the best things that happens to you.
