Hey everyone - it's the Sprinkles of Style team and we're back with a new post which you're all going to love!

We're sharing some exclusive tips about how to make your home feel cosy this winter and yes - all in time for the party season!

What is Hygge?

So, you might have heard of the term Hygge - this comes from the Danish who are reportedly the happiest people on earth and the reason for their happiness is due to the lifestyle they lead and practicing Hygge.

What's Hygge you ask? In simple terms - it's the art of cosy living and this is ensuring that the life you live is with the intention of feeling happy, fulfilled and a part of that comes from the atmosphere in your home.

In this post, you're going to find out some tips on how you can get your home in the Hygge spirit too!

Think about how you heat your home

One of the first things to consider is how you heat your home - we associate the cosy feeling with warmth and this is what the Danish do too so this is a great area to focus on if you want to create a Hygge living space.

There's different options to choose from such as wood-burning fireplaces (perfect for that cosy feeling) however if you can't add that to your home, think about infrared heating which will make things warm around your home such as your flooring and in some cases - your walls too.

Get all of the soft furnishings available

Once you have your heating sorted in your home, it's time to think about the material elements surrounding Hygge.

This is something that Layla loves in her home - we're talking cushions, soft blankets, throws and soft furnishings.... she has them everywhere!

As winter is here, there's no better time than now to go shopping for accessories for your home.

Think about it, cold evenings spent at home surrounded by your new cosy blankets and soft furnishings - what's not to love!? 🙂

Think about the atmosphere you create

Hygge really is all about the atmosphere you create in your home and another thing which Layla absolutely loves in her home is candles - and yes, scented candles!

This is where candles come into their own at this time of year especially - with so many festive scents to choose from, you're easily able to create a warm/cosy atmosphere by placing candles around your home.

There's something so pretty about candles, they look beautiful when placed carefully around the room and add a lovely romantic touch to any room.

Now that you know the basics of Hygge - go and get creative!

If you spend a little bit of time and effort on your home and living space, you'll see the benefits as your energy will improve and you'll be happier in your living space.

We hope that some of the ideas and suggestions will help you to achieve the lovely cosy feeling in your home but don't forget that Pinterest is full of inspiration too!

At Sprinkles of Style - we love reading your comments so let us know what you think about Hygge and what your essentials are for creating a cosy vibe in your home.
