How Many Times a Week Should You Wash Hair?

There isn’t really a set “rule” when it comes to washing your hair, everyone’s hair and scalp is different just like our skin so we need to use products that are targeted for our hair type.

The only “rule” I would like to mention is that you should wash your hair when you start to feel uncomfortable with it.

I wash my hair every other day and even though it’s curly/wavy I always try to use products that contain “moisturising” ingredients like argan oil, coconut oil, jojoba oil which all help to reduce breakage/split-ends, keep it soft and smooth.

Different Hair Types

Oily/Greasy

Don’t be ashamed if you struggle with greasy hair/roots – I did!
I realised that I was using harsh products on my hair that were stripping the natural oils (just like skincare) and what you need to do is use products that will hydrate/moisturise and cleanse.

What You Need: Look for hair products that contain tea tree, green tea, mint, orange/lime/lemon which will cut through grease and product build-up but at the same time moisturise.
Try: Herbal Essences Fresh Balance Clarifying Shampoo

Itchy/Sensitive

There’s nothing worse than an itchy scalp, it doesn’t feel great and of course you don’t feel good either!

What you Need: You need to find something that is delicate on your scalp so anything containing Aloe Vera will work wonders as it will soothe and nourish your hair/scalp.
TryDr Organic Aloe Vera Shampoo

Fine Hair

Fine hair might feel really smooth but 9 times out of 10 it really lacks volume.

What you Need: Make sure you use products that contain plenty of vitamins as this will add natural volume to your hair and keep it healthy.
Try: Pantene Shampoo Breakage Defence

The main thing that I would like to get across is that our hair needs just as much attention as our skincare…. would you use a foaming oil removing cleanser on dry skin? No, so why do we think it’s ok to use anything on our hair?

If you start to use products targeted for your hair type ( just like skincare) then you’ll see such an improvement in how your hair looks, feels and behaves!

Let me know what products you’re loving, how many times you wash your hair and if certain things work better for you!! 🙂
